A WORLD IN A SUITCASE

Queens Park Library - collages, stories, writing, food and Suitcase filled with objects of personal meaning.

The participants explored their 'World' of Home, Childhood and Food through storytelling, roleplay, collage and drawing. What made the group unique was that they were almost exclusively Bangali ladies. They encouraged each other and gained confidence from standing up and presenting a recipe or a story to the group from their own experiences. And before Ramadam they all brought in food to celebrate and share.
The participants filled their Suitcases with items of personal meaning. Meena brought in her actual wedding sari from her wedding 30 years ago. Shami brought in treasures from Mecca. Minara brought in her life saving medication. Rahila, who is keen on making embroidery  brought in her favourite embroidered objects.
Queens Park 2019 sessions explored food and celebrations.via stories, collage, crayons and pens
